Candace has been an educator for 17 years, teaching grades Pre-K – 3rd in the private and public sector. Early in her teaching career, she began to understand the connection between the body and the brain and how helping children understand this connection enhances and empowers their learning.
In 2002, Candace completed her certificate to teach yoga to children. After that, twice a week children in her class would enter, remove their shoes and practice yoga. Each morning was a time for students and teacher to connect with each other by playing in collaborative game, a share time in a small or whole group, or breathing together purposefully.
Candace noticed a change in her classes from that point on. This change resulted in kind, thoughtful, calm, helpful students who worked together to listen to each other and problem solve together.
In 2012, after moving back to St. Louis from Tucson, AZ, Candace completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training. In 2013, she completed a 200-hour Yogahour teacher training and in 2014 completed a 85-hour prenatal teacher training. Candace completed two mindfulness trainings in 2013 with Mindful Schools. She has a daily practice of meditation and practices integrating mindfulness into every aspect of her life.
Candace loves working with children and adults, and believes the work she does with children of all ages is special and near and dear to her heart.
In addition to yoga, Candace is a mother of one son. She loves animals and has two dogs and two cats. She enjoys hiking, reading, and is happiest in the sun and on a beach.
